Former Elementary School in Uda City

2022-10-01

I visited a former elementary school preserved without demolished in a village surrounded by forests. (Built in 1935, so 87-year-old heavily-used wooden building!) The area was extremely quiet. It was a Saturday morning, but there were only 6 people including me. I took photos of the entire school building using a wide conversion lens.

I was able to concentrate on taking photos without worrying surroundings. When I looked closely at the flower petals posted on the wall, I could find names or messages written on them.

Room signs, a piano, building blocks, wooden stairs in sunlight, and a door lock: all were nostalgic.

I found dahlia flowers in the backyard.

An old-fashioned electric fan was still used in the control office that stands outside of the school building.

Casually planted flowers and leaves fell on moss were also a part of the scenery.
