Mt. Wakakusa Yamayaki

At Mt. Wakakusa in Nara City, a religious event called Yamayaki is held in late January every year. Fireworks are launched firstly, and the grass covering the mountain are burned next. I heard that it is done to appease the spirits sleeping in the deep mountain. (All photos taken with DP3 Merrill)

The FOVEON sensor is poor at night photography, but tried it. Focus is manual needless to say and 1 second for shutter speed.

After taking photos of fireworks, visited a familiar cafe to get warm. I confirmed the real value of DP3 Merrill is on closeup photos after all.
